When analysing an image there are 4 steps to help the process.
+Describe
+Analyse
+Interpret
+Judge
Describe
Firstly you simply give a general description of what is contained within the image.
Analyse
Secondly you analyse the elements and principles the artist has included in the artwork.
Interpret
Next you interpret what you think the image is about, whether there is a message in the image or not.
Judge
Finally you judge the image, this is when you say whether you think the artist has successfully achieved a good piece of art.

Etching
First post in a while :
Have started etching. We made a collage out of pictures drawn with little lines. Then using a needle, scrathed at the acetate. It takes some time to finish the etching but it is a fun process. I was away for the indroduction lesson, but have quickly and eagerly caught up. When I finished my practice peice, i printed it, this was also a fun and interesting process. Now i have started on my assesment peice, which i chose to be my most recent collage.
This is an example of an etching print.
I am enjoying this topic and am excited to continue it through the term :)

My Art Diary
I have uploaded my complete diary.
<< My name Plate
I used bright, warm colours on my name plate to represent me as a happy, exciting person. The writing begins with being light down the bottom and then working up to dark. This shows that i am shy when i first meet people, but as i get to know them i become more outgoing and confident around them.
Exquisite corpse is a method by which a collection of words or images are collectively assembled, the result being known as the exquisite corpse. Each collaborator adds to a composition in sequenceby being allowed to see the end of what the previous person contributed.
Next i have my questions from the Andy Warhol excursion. when i was looking through amgazines for my collages, i found a page with the Campbells soup cans on it. I used them to decorate my page. I also found a terrible picture on Britney Spears, and gave her the Warhol treatment, which looks horrible when compared to Warhols other celebrity works.
This was my second official collage. A little better than my first attempt, the images are better placed on the background.

This is my Sorry Day Collage. I am quite proud of this collage, as the pictures fit into the scene well and the message comes across well.
This collage represents the white people saying sorry to the indigenous people. They are holding hands and are looking sad and sorry for what they have done in the past. The white butterfly is a symbol of peace and hope between the two races.

This is my collage which contains a political comment. I focused this collage on pollution and its effects on the environment. The lughtbulb, car and man, are showing some of the ways that we are destroying the environment, through littering, gases and fumes. The images are surreal by scale and are non-related.

This collage was focused on a dream i had one night. I had a dream that i had a lot of money. I was a very successful and was spending my money on various things. I spent some money on diamonds, technology and a car, i had parties and gatherings at my house, and i sponsered a family living in poverty.
I found a backgroung image of a modern house, and then found images that related to my dream and juxtaposed them onto the background. i am fairly happy with my use of scale in this collage.

Andy Warhol Treatment- Angelina Jolie
This is Angelina Jolie.
I found her picture on google. Then gave her the Andy Warhol treatment. Using Photoshop, firstly i changed the colour balance. i increased the red, then the yellow, then the yellow and blue to get green, then the blue. The compiled the four images. Then i posterized the picture, which changes the amount of levels in the picture, i changed it to 4 levels. Then i put the artistic effect called 'cutout' on the image. And that is how i gave it the Warhol effect. :)

Andy Warhol
I loved the Andy Warhol excursion, i thought it was AMAZING!
My favourite feature were all the different walls like the cows and the huge quote wall.
I didn't have one particular artwork i liked the most, but i loved the collection of pop art faces on the back wall. I also loved the series of Marylin Munroe.
Andy Warhol's artworks are really quite simple, just repetitions of the same photograph but with different colour schemes. I like the use of repetition in his works, especially the Campbell's Soup collection.
I think Andy Warhol was a very simplistic person who lived a very relaxed life, and didn't care about other peoples opinions. He was experimental in his works and has become a well known artist. His works on the pop art faces, could tell you a little about what type of person they were. For example the Marylin Munroe collection was done using bright colours which portrays to me her bubbly, wild personality. Some of the other faces used darker colours, which portrayed a feeling of sadness and sometimes anger in that persons personality.
I really enjoyed the excursion and would recommend it for everyone to see, even non-art students. xxx

Salvador Dali
Salvador’s artworks are very unrealistic. Nothing in his paintings relate to each other. It’s as if his paintings are inspired by his dreams. He collages everything together into one setting.
In this particular artwork ‘The Temptation of St.Anthony 1945’ the animals legs are not normal. The artwork is quite plain, just the main puictures then nothing else. There are some little man near the feet of the animals and another in the bottom left corner, who looks like he is trying to stop them with the help of his religion. This painting is out of the ordinary, Salvador had a very good understanding of surrealism.
